Kandovan Iran is located in the East Azarbaijan province and in the city of Esko and is known as a rocky village in Iran because of its rocky outcrops. The village is both a valuable work of national monuments and has a worldwide reputation and is the only rocky village in the world where it currently resides. The other two villages, one is Cappadocia Village in Turkey and the other is Dakota Village in the US, which, unlike the condominium where it lives, is not inhabited.
The settlement's history dates back to the 7th century AH. At that time, the people of the village of Hilhar, 5 kilometers west of Kandovan, decided to stay safe from the clutches of the Mongols, so they went to the lowland, that is, Kundan. They gradually begin digging the village with their hands so that they can build a shelter in their hearts, and it is as if the settlement begins in the village of Kandovan.
